Want to know what it’s like to be on summer staff at Camp Highland?
Working on summer staff at Camp Highland is a unique, challenging, and wonderful experience. In order to share with others what this experience is like from a first-hand perspective, we asked some of our 2025 summer staff counselors to share their testimonies from the summer. Read what they said in their own words:
Carly Beth Ballard – Overnight Counselor
“I am forever grateful the Lord placed it on my heart to work at camp this summer. It was a huge leap of faith for me coming to a place I had never been. At Camp Highland, I was met with an overwhelming amount of warmth and love. I encountered the love of Christ in a new way and grew so much by being a part of this uplifting community. I saw the fruits of the spirit displayed amongst the staff in the way I was loved. I constantly saw the Lord at work in my own heart and the hearts of those around me. I experienced His joy like I never have before and caught a glimpse of heaven this summer. It was the sweetest gift getting to love His children and witness them being transformed by the Lord. I was continually blown away by the ways He was working in their lives.
Camp culture really exemplifies what it looks like to invite God into everything we do. I was reminded of the simple gospel and how relying on the Lord is such a beautiful thing. Working at camp is an experience that you will never forget and something that will leave you changed!”

“Working at Camp Highland is an experience unlike any other. It is a summer where you experience some of the most rewarding and powerful moments from the Holy Spirit, while daily being brought to a reliance on him. The joy of the Lord is evident in every single staff member here, and whether you came to camp your whole life, or never stepped foot on property, you will find a community of believers who care for you.
The culture and heart of camp is special, and every single person that comes to camp leaves impacted in a different way. Not only is it a Godly and special place, but it’s fun, being on staff brings countless memories and traditions that will stay with me throughout my life. Come work at camp! You won’t regret it.”

“Serving at Camp Highland this summer taught me what it meant to truly sit at the Lord’s feet. Every day, I was reminded of His goodness and overwhelming love for His children. It was such an honor to serve alongside staff who encouraged me in my faith and who are so on fire for the Lord. Camp does such a good job of helping us see the Lord in every aspect of our daily lives.
This summer has been one of the most fulfilling experiences, and I am forever thankful for Camp Highland.”
Joining Summer Staff at Camp Highland
Camp Highland is a Christian summer camp in Ellijay, Georgia. Our goal is to craft authentic experiences that create leaders and engage the heart. Each summer, we hire college-aged summer staff to work together in community for the glory of God. Working as a summer camp counselor at Camp Highland is an experience like no other, where you are challenged to serve others well, build lasting community, and grow in your faith.
