We Asked Camp Staff What They’re Thankful For: 2025

During this season of thanksgiving, we’re grateful for our summer staff who love Christ and love one another deeply. So, we asked them what they were thankful for this year — camp edition. Here’s what they said.

Thankful for an environment at camp that encourages genuineness & creates friendships where insecurity & self-doubt are minimized. There’s a special authenticity about camp friendships that allows me to feel fully at ease!

– Adleigh Metcalf, Overnight Counselor

I’m beyond thankful that God was moving all the right pieces so that I could work at camp this past summer! I had no idea what my summer would look like, but looking back I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. It was so cool to meet such awesome people and get to be a part of such amazing campers’ lives and stories! Truly thankful for a place like Camp Highland and such an incredible Lord who works all things together for good!

– Camden Lyles, Overnight Counselor

I am thankful for TAG time at camp, and getting intentional time in the day to spend in the Word. I am also thankful for all of the camp staff and friends that make walking through life sweeter.

– Eliza Smith, Overnight Counselor

The friends I made this summer! They have become some of my closest friends whom I can feel confident will be there in the highs and lows! Also just thankful for the way the Lord provided this summer! The Lord provided in so many big and small ways daily.

– Addi Aniszewski, Overnight Counselor

I’m thankful for the gift it is to worship God alongside the most amazing campers!

– Katelyn Rager, Overnight Counselor

The amazing, Christ centered community that the Lord blessed me with at camp!

– Fallon Reese, LIT

An amazing camp staff who are so on fire for Jesus and continue to grow everyone around them in their faith!

– Noah Foley, Overnight Counselor

My campers! From week 1 to week 8, they are all special in a different way! I am so thankful to have been able to be a small part of their summer, and that I was able to form lasting relationships with each of them! I am extra thankful when I get to hear from them, even though the summer has passed!

– Rebecca Neville, Overnight Counselor

I am and will forever be thankful for a community of staff that is so loving and chasing so hard after the Lord, not just in the way they love their campers, but in the way they love each other just as well.

– Evan Ashley, LIT

The ability to pour into campers like I’ve been poured into by all my counselors growing up, and getting to do it with the BEST staff ever who are the sweetest of friends!!! I’m so thankful for camp and all God has used it for in my life!

– Laine Gregory, Overnight Counselor

I am extremely grateful for the communities that have been sparked through cabins this summer. I have one cabin in particular that still texts and keeps up with one another, and it is so encouraging to see the way that the Lord is working through those senior guys.

– Daniel Johnson, Overnight Counselor
